Starting tomorrow (Aug.21) the University of the Immaculate Conception (UIC) College Department will have no classes and offices until Monday (Aug.25).
The school just recently visited with PAASCU last August 18 & 19. Noting that last Monday was Holiday (observance of Ninoy Aquino’s death anniversary). The UIC was exempted because of the PAASCU visit. Hence, on Thursday the university will have no classes and offices. Friday is also holiday for the Kadayawan celebration and on Monday is National Heroes Day.
Therefore, it will be a five days of long vacation. Some of the students were very happy because they could go back to their homes in the provinces. Others could participate well in the kadayawan actvities. Some could focus studying their lessons and review as it is their midterm exams the following week.
I personally have my scheduled iteniraries this week. On Aug.21, I will attend the Acquaintance Party of TCI (our school newspaper); on Aug. 22, I will watch the movie Pisay at SM Cinema; on Aug. 23, I’ll participate the Team Building Workshop of AMS (Club for Management Students in which I’m also an officer) at Cursillo House and on Aug.24 would be the 1st drafting of our youth apostolates vision-missin.
Better at least I have a long time of rest than the regular days. I hope to include also reviewing my lessons. Hope to cover up from my last exams grade. Enjoy your long vacation everyone. Be vigilant always.

The PAASCU is a service organization which accredits academic programs which meet commonly accepted standards of quality education.
The Acreditation means a concept based on self-regulation which focuses on evaluation and the continuing improvement of educational quality. It is also a process by which institutions or programs continuously upgrade their educational quality and services through self-evaluation and the judgement of peers. Lastly, it is a status granted to an educational institution or program which meets commonly accepted standards of quality or excellence.
Administrators, associate deans of the different programs, faculty, staff, non-teaching personnel and students are hardly working and preparing for their visit.
Among those who will visit is Mrs. Concepcion Pijano, PAASCU Executive Director. Along with her are Prof. Leonela Africa, Dr. Marilou Tadlip, Sr. Marivic Galamay, SFIC, Dr. Ruth Manubag, Fr. Eduardo Tanudtanud, OMI, Mrs. Ruthsel Pe, Mr. Lay Sopagara, Dr. Patrick John LIm, Dr. Mark Labuntog, Engr. Stevan Dimaguila and Mr. Pen Sithud.
The accreditation has this following characteristics:
1. its prevailing sense of volunteerism;
2. its strong tradition of self-regulation;
3. its reliance on evaluation techniques;
4. its primary concern with quality.
With the collaboration of everyone in the university, they are hopeful of a positive output to their visit.
August, the eight month of the year, is most probably has the longest holidays. Observance of death of Ninoy Aquino and National Heroes Day are among the holidays on this month. Because of my curiosity, I decided to look for other holidays on this month.
I’ve searched on the internet about some of the other holidays [festivals, regular & non-working holidays, feasts, anniversaries, etc.] Here’s what I’ve got:
