FEB.1,08 was my first day as Full-Time Youth Coordinator in our local parish. A day before was my meeting with the priest head. Upon renewing my commitment, I have reflected already that it means to have more time spend in the ministry, more expectations and be more visible in the parish.
I can still remember the time I accepted the challenge two years ago when my successor took his marriage. Since then, my routines will never be excluded in visiting the different Basic Ecclesiastical Community (BEC) or Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK), attending meeting with formation teams and among others.
Last night was my scheduled meeting with some Adults Ministers of our local Parish. It was a meaningful and fruitful meeting for it was the first time we meet together way back a couple of years ago that purely discusses for the direction of the youth ministry.
During the meeting, I asked an apology for I was not able to focus and give much time in the ministry. I explained to them that during the last two years since I accepted of being a coordinator, I was also working in the Archdiocesan Youth Ministry. At the same time studying at the University of the Immaculate Conception College where I took BS Commerce in Management.
For now, meeting the youth in the gkk, contacting persons to help, and more time of reflection as to how will I be able to lead the youth ministry in the right direction are my IMPORTANT concerns and focuses.
Days and months would come, my strong commitment and faith in God would I belive will lead me to the direction that we all wanted to achieve. Bringing the young people more closer to God.

After the successful hosting of the National Youth Day last November 2006, the Archdiocese of Davao once again flooded with young people last December 29, 2007, as the Davao Archdiocesan Youth Coordinating Apostolate (DAYCA) marks its 20th years of existence. Almost 2,000 delegates coming from the different parishes, schools and transparochial groups trooped to the St. Francis Xavier College Seminary, Catalunan Grande, Davao City. “Remembering, rejoicing and reliving DAYCA through empowering the youth” was the theme for the said celebration. Second, the Institutionalizing of DAYCA as a coordinating body of all youth groups in the archdiocese who shall implement programs and projects for the youth. It was ten (10) years later that the Vision and Mission Statement of DAYCA was formulated through AYPAD 1 & 2 or the Archdiocesan Youth Pastoral of Davao.
